The McHenry Award is named after John McHenry. John was the lawyer who worked with the founding committee of the Daughters of the Nile Foundation to help create the Foundation. He believed there should be an award for Ladies of the Household who significantly contribute to the Foundation in some way. Since John’s passing in 2018, the award continues to be fully funded each year by the partners of the McHenry, Hazard, Roth, Hupp, Burkholder, and Blomenberg law firm of Lincoln, Nebraska.  We thank the Firm for their continued support and congratulate the 2024 McHenry Award recipients.

For a small donation the donors were given a card with a rose on the front to write the name of those they wished to honor or remember.   Cards were displayed at the Foundation Booth.  Donors added their own names on the back of the cards  to be eligible to win one of the four plates that were made with the help of Past Supreme Queen Sharon St. John after the Daughters of the Nile Plaque Presentation at the Shriners Hospitals for Children in Shreveport, Louisiana.  To view the video of this event click on the picture above of the Rose Garden.

$2 Million to Shriners Hospitals for Children!

Donation to Shriners Hospitals for Children® Tops $2 Million!

Each year, MEMBERS and FRIENDS of Daughters of the Nile give generously of their time and resources through the Daughters of the Nile Foundation and Canadian Foundation  to help the special patients of Shriners Hospitals for Children®.  This year the annual distribution of funds exceeds $2 million.  Hundreds of children will receive the compassionate care they need in a family-centered environment, and Daughters of the Nile across North America are proud to assist by providing monetary support.  Thank you to all the generous donors who have helped us reach this milestone!!

The total amount given by Daughters of the Nile to Shriners Hospitals for Children® exceeds $60 Million!

Donations from Daughters of the Nile Top $60 Million

It is a milestone we have been anticipating – reaching the $60 million mark!  Since 1924, members and friends of Daughters of the Nile have contributed over $60 million to Shriners Hospitals for Children®.  This achievement makes Daughters of the Nile one of the  largest single contributors to this remarkable network of hospitals.  Each year, hundreds of children with orthopedic conditions, burn injuries and other special healthcare needs are treated in a compassionate, family-centered and collaborative care environment.  Shriners Hospitals for Children® treats children without regard to race, color, creed, sex, disability, national origin or ability of the patient or family to pay. The care given is the best in the world, and many techniques and treatments that are common in hospitals around the country today were pioneered at Shriners Hospitals for Children®.

Daughters of the Nile across North America work tirelessly in raising money for Shriners Hospitals for Children® through the Daughters of the Nile Foundation.  Donations to the Convalescent Endowment Fund and Convalescent Relief Account mean help for children today and in the future. Each year, the Daughters of the Nile Foundation contributes over $2 million to the 22 Shriners Hospitals for Children® in North America.  Check out our online Gift Store for ways you can help.  The Daughters of the Nile Foundation is proud of its contributions and of reaching the $56 million mark!  Thank you to all our friends and supporters who have made this achievement possible.
